§ Mr. Nellistasked the Minister of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food if he will list, by proprietary brand, those phenoxy acid herbicides cleared for use in the United Kingdom.
§ Mrs. FennerThe phenoxyalkanoic acid herbicides form a large group of compounds which are characterised by plant growth regulatory/hormone type activity on most annual and perennial broadleaved species. Compounds from this group used in herbicides cleared under the pesticides safety precautions scheme are:
mcpa 2,4-D 2,4,5-T mcpb 2,4-DB fenoprop mecoprop 2,4-DES dichlorprop Over 450 proprietary brands containing either these compounds alone, or in combination with each other or other compounds have commercial or provisional commercial clearance under the PSPS.
My Department publishes annually a list of all products cleared under the PSPS for agricultural, food storage, public hygiene, domestic and related uses in the United Kingdom in which the chemical active ingredient(s) of each product is shown. A copy is available in the Library of the House and I have sent a copy to the hon. Member.
