HC Deb 20 June 1985 vol 81 cc208-9W
27. Mr. Knox

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on progress made on the outgoers scheme for dairy farmers.

Mr. Jopling

By 14 June, 1,590 producers had decided to go out of milk production under the scheme and undertaken to surrender 265 million litres of quota.

This is short of the overall target of 289 million litres we hope to purchase in England and Wales. We have therefore decided, as my hon. Friend announced on 10 June, to reopen the scheme to enable our target to be reached.
