HC Deb 20 June 1985 vol 81 c222W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make representations to the Greek aviation authorities in the light of recent evidence of laxity in security at Athens airport, regarding measures to improve the efficiency of personal and baggage checks for travellers using Greek airports.

Mr. Michael Spicer

I am aware that the security arrangements provided by the authorities at Athens are unsatisfactory. The Government are continuing to make representations to the Greek authorities on the screening of passengers and baggage at Athens and they have taken note of our views. For the time being, British Airways will continue to carry out its own screening of passengers at the departure gate.
