HC Deb 20 June 1985 vol 81 c212W
Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received concerning the extent to which his current proposals for nutritional food labelling will enable individuals to make a judgment as to the health implications of specific foods.

Mrs. Fenner

We have received a large number of comments on our draft guidelines on nutrition labelling of foods. My officials are now assessing these comments and will be considering how far amendments need to be made to the draft both to encourage the widest use of nutritional labelling by food manufacturers, and to maximise its usefulness and comprehensibility for consumers.
