For Wales the total in employment, including the self-employed, in June 1979, 1983 and 1984 were 1,133,000, 1,019,000, and 1,043,000 respectively. For the same dates, the numbers of unemployed claimants were 73,500, 162,160, and 162,941 and for May 1985, 178,467.
