§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food why new guidelines on food labelling require sugar to be included under the general heading of carbohydrates.
§ Mr. JoplingDraft guidelines for voluntary full nutrition labelling were issued on 27 March, and would provide the option of declaring one figure for total carbohydrates, or of declaring total carbohydrates plus a separate figure for sugar within that total. All interested bodies were invited to comment, and all comments will be considered before any final decision is reached.
