§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if there is any evidence to indicate that imports from the near and far east to the United Kingdom are proportionately higher than in other European Community countries.
Mr. Channon: OECD trade statistics indicate that in 1983 7½per cent. of the imports of the other European Community countries came from the near and far east, compared with 11½ per cent. for the United Kingdom.
