§ Mr. Franksasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Cumbria on the progress of inquiries into allegations of attempted bribery and corruption concerning land for private development in the Cartmel and Furness local plan prepared by the planning department of the South Lakeland district council.
§ Mr. Giles ShawI understand from the chief constable of Cumbria that following an allegation of corruption made to his officers on 5 January an investigation was undertaken and a report submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who has recommended that no further action be taken in the case.
