Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in regard to royal parks (a) their number, location and acreage, (b) the expenditure incurred by the Government in the financial year 1984–85 on the maintenance, repair and improvement of each park, (c) any income received in the financial year 1984–85 for each park and (d) the names and addresses of any consultants or agencies involved in work affecting each park, giving brief descriptions of jobs involved and details of the terms of reference, date of completion and any fees due to be paid beyond the current financial year.

There are nine royal parks. The information requested is as follows:

Consultants currently engaged in work affecting parks (excluding design consultancies let by the Property Services Agency) are as follows:

1.Land Use Consultants, 731 Fulham Road, SW6.

Historical Survey, Greenwich Park, report due late 1985.

2.Land Use Consultants

Preparation of exhibition material in respect of Fountain Garden at Hampton Court. Completion expected summer 1985.

3.Consortium of Inbucon Ltd, 197 Knightsbridge, SW7 and Land Use Consultants Study of standards of maintenance, their resource implications, and options for future maintenace of royal parks. Feasibility report based principally on study of Regent's Park due Autumn 1985.

No fees will be incurred on 1 and 2 in 1986–87. Further expenditure on 3 depends on the outcome of the feasibility study.
