asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how often each of Her Majesty's prisons is inspected.

Mr. Mellor

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons and his staff carry out a programme of 14 full inspections and about 50 shorter visits (some of which are unannounced) each year.
