§ Mr. Pollock
asked the Secretary of State for Transport what figures are available for the last convenient period of the number of vehicles found to be in an unroadworthy condition as revealed by MOT testing.

Based on a 2 per cent. sample of tests carried out at MOT testing garages in 1984 the estimated numbers of vehicles which failed the test were:
