HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c848W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will discuss with the chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority the possibility of conducting new trials to test safety standards for passengers escaping from aircraft in lifejackets; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The CAA has statutory responsibility for the testing of passenger evacuation standards on aircraft. I understand it has received no comments to suggest there are any deficiencies in the present arrangements for conducting trials of passenger evacuation for airworthiness certification purposes. However, it keeps these matters under constant review.
