asked the Attorney-General whether it is his policy to appoint suitably qualified men and women under the age of 35 years to chairmanships of social security appeal tribunals.

The Lord Chancellor does not generally appoint banisters or solicitors who have the requisite number of years' professional standing to tribunal posts if they are under the age of 35.
