§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many married and cohabiting women have made claims for housewives' non-contributory invalidity pension since 25 November 1984; how many of these claims have been accepted on grounds of good cause for late claim; and how many of the claims that have been accepted have been successful;
(2) how many claims for housewives' non-contributory invalidity pension received after 25 November 1984 have been refused, and, of these, how many (a) have made successful claims for severe disablement allowance (b) are in the age group excluded from severe disablement allowance until November 1985 and (c) have been assessed at less than 80 per cent. disabled.
§ Mr. NewtonI regret that information is not available in the form requested. However, between 25 November 1984 and 5 July 1985 there were some 4,000 claims for housewives' non-contributory invalidity pension, 4,200 awards and 2,500 disallowances. Details are not available for the success or failure of claims for severe disablement allowance which follow an unsuccessful claim for HNCIP, but as at 2 July some 1,200 married or cohabiting women had been awarded SDA, and a further 900 had been assessed as less than 80 per cent. disabled.
