asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the present waiting time for interview of husbands or wives wishing to enter the United Kingdom from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The information requested is as follows: The waiting time in months at the end of June was:

Bangladesh (Dhaka) India New Delihi India Bombay Pakistan (Islamabad)
Husbands 23 14 6 11.75
Second wives or with children over 10 or reapplicants 23 14 6 11.75
Priority* 6 2 2 3
First wives with children under 10 (Dhaka only) 6
Newly married wives (Dhaka only) 2 weeks
* Priority interviews are given to wives with no children and wives whose children are under 10 where it is the first marriage of both partners.
