Mr. Favell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will provide details of the changes which have taken place in the Stockport district health authority (formerly the Stockport area health authority) between 1978 and the last year for which figures are available in respect of the following: (a) the number of family doctors, (b) the average family doctor list size, (c) the number of dentists, (d) the number of courses of dental treatment, (e) the number of health visitors, (f) the number of district nurses and (g) the number of home helps;

(2) if he will provide details of the changes which have taken place at Stepping Hill hospital, Stockport, between 1978 and the last year for which figures are available in respect of the following: (a) the number of available beds in acute services, (b) the number of available beds in non-acute services, (c) the number of inpatient cases treated, (d) the number of day case attendances treated, (e) the number of outpatient attendances, (f) the number of those employed in direct patient services broken down into category and stating whether full-time or part-time and giving the total wage bill, (g) the number of those employed in support service posts broken down into categories and stating whether full-time or part-time and giving the total wage bill, (h) the total amount of revenue expenditure in cash terms and real terms and (i) the facilities available giving the total of the capital expenditure between such dates.

(2) if he will provide details of the changes which have taken place in the North-Western regional health authority between 1978 and the last year for which figures were available in respect of the following: (a) the total amount of revenue expenditure in cash terms and real terms (b) the amount available for capital expenditure giving details of the total amount of capital expenditure between such dates, (c) the number of those employed in direct patient services giving the total wage bill, and (d) the number of those engaged in support services giving the total wages bill.

The information requested on revenue and capital expenditure on health services in North-Western region between 1978–79 and 1984–85 is given in the table. We do not have centrally the details requested on the number and costs of staff and the information relating to the Stockport district health authority. My hon. Friend may like to approach the North-Western regional health authority for this information.
