HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 cc830-1W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the re-negotiation of the extradition treaty with Italy of 1873.

Mr. Mellor

Following my right hon. and learned Friend's meeting in Rome in February with the Italian Minister of Justice, preliminary discussions have taken place between officials of both Governments with a view to preparing a revised extradition treaty. In particular, we consider that the list of offences for which extradition can be granted should be updated to include certain terrorist and drug offences.
