Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the cost to the Departmemnt of Agriculture in Northern Ireland of training students at colleges in the financial year 1983–84.

Dr. Boyson

The net teaching cost at the three agricultural colleges for 1983–84 was £2,445,000, excluding certain central administration and service costs.

Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many students attended agriculture colleges in Northern Ireland in 1983–84.

434 on residential education courses, and some 480 various short training courses.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the cost to the Department of Agriculture in Northern Ireland of payments towards the costs of agriculture students and research in Queen's university, Belfast, for the last three years for which figures are available.
