§ Mr. Harrisasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on his plans to introduce new measures to encourage hill farmers to branch out into tourism and craft industries as well as for assistance for young farmers; and whether such tourist measures will also apply to the Isles of Scilly.
§ Mr. JoplingI refer my hon. Friend to the statutory instruments which I laid before Parliament yesterday and to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Ilford, South (Mr. Thorne). If Parliament approves these instruments, young farmers will be eligible for capital grants at a quarter above the basic rates and tourism and craft grants wil be available in LFAs at 25 per cent. Both of these measures will apply to the Isles of Scilly.
