asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the chairman of the board of British Rail has yet complied with the Secretary of State for Transport's request to report to him by mid-1984 on the options for the future of BR Engineering Ltd., and if not, when he is likely to do so.

Lord Brabazon of Tara

The chairman made a progress report to the Secretary of State in November 1984 and said then that he would be making further reports from time to time as particular aspects of the work are completed.
