§ Mr. Batisteasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will invoke the Protection of Trading Interests Act 1980 in respect of attempts by the United States Government to impose extra-territorially its Export Administration Act.
§ Mr. ChannonMy right hon. Friend has no present plans to do so but would be prepared to take this course where he is satisfied that it is the most effective way of safeguarding legitimate United Kingdom interests.
