HC Deb 14 January 1985 vol 71 c57W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons were detained under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act over the Christmas holiday period to the latest date in Scotland; how many persons were charged; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ancram

In the period 24 December 1984 to 10 January 1985, both dates inclusive, three persons were detained by the police in Scotland under the Prevention of Terrorism legislation. No charges were brought, but one of those detained was subsequently the subject of an exclusion order, made by my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department, which prohibits that person from being in, or entering Great Britain.
