HC Deb 09 January 1985 vol 70 c440W
Mr. Maclean

asked the Prime Minister if she will institute a review of the probation and social services to determine inter alia (a) whether the minimum age for social workers is reasonable, (b) whether training standards are adequate, (c) whether a new disciplinary code is required and (d) what action is required to prevent criminals working in the service.

The Prime Minister

My right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department has announced his intention to review the arrangements for the disclosure of information about the criminal convictions of those seeking to work with children, and will be consulting the Association of Chief Police Officers and other interested bodies. I do not believe that a review of the other areas mentioned is necessary at the present time.
