HC Deb 28 February 1985 vol 74 c285W
Mr. Lambie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is now prepared to postpone the 1985 revaluation of property.

Mr. Younger

No. The substantial task of revaluing every property in Scotland has now been completed; new valuation rolls are in the possession of rating authorities; and new valuation notices are, or very shortly will be, going out to every ratepayer in the country. I have no power to cancel the revaluation, and to make a—necessarily cumbersome and complex—attempt to delay its implementation would be unfair and undesirable.
