§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the proportion of the EEC budget for each year since 1972, devoted to (a) compulsory and (b) non-compulsory expenditure; and what are the current guidelines in force as to the possible annual increase in expenditure in both categories.
§ Mr. Ian Stewart[pursuant to his reply, 27 February 1985, c. 212–13]: The figures requested are not available for the budget as adopted and could not be provided without disproportionate cost. Information relating to the 1984 financial year was provided on 10 January 1985 to the hon. Member for Newham, South (Mr. Spearing).
The conclusions on budgetary discipline adopted by the Council of Ministers in December will apply in full to the 1986 budget. The principles of budgetary discipline also apply to the 1985 agricultural price-fixing as it will affect expenditure in 1986.
