HC Deb 27 February 1985 vol 74 c195W
63. Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he is satisfied with the volume of British exports to Japan.

Mr. Trippier

United Kingdom exports to Japan in 1984 grew to £926 million in 1984 from £798 million in the previous year, an increase of 16 per cent. This is encouraging, and my Department and the British Overseas Trade Board, particularly through the Exports to Japan Unit and the Japan Trade Advisory Group, in collaboration with the British embassy in Tokyo, are continually encouraging British exporters to explore the opportunities offered by the Japanese market.
