HC Deb 27 February 1985 vol 74 cc212-3W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what protests were made by Her Majesty's Government, in concert with other Governments and international organisations, against the delay of several days to aircraft carrying food to relieve the famine in Ethiopia by flights concerned with the Organisation of African Unity summit meeting at Addis Ababa; and what was the result of such protests.

Mr. Rifkind

The Ethiopian Government did warn us last November that pressure of aircraft at Addis Ababa airport before and during the OAU conference might cause difficulties. In the event, however, there were no delays of which we are aware.
