§ Mrs. Dunwoodyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the value added tax on a gallon of (a) petrol and (b) diesel in each of the last 10 years; and what has been the total revenue from each source in each of those years.

The total VAT revenue has been calculated from estimates of consumers' expenditure on road fuel, and takes account of relevant VAT rate changes. Expenditure on derv is included but is not available as a separate estimate.
