§ Mr. Bestasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he has yet decided what resources he intends to allocate to the Wales Tourist Board for 1986–87.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsSubject to parliamentary approval I intend to allocate nearly £8 million to the Wales Tourist Board for 1986–87. This includes a continuation of the exceptional addition of £½ million for grants and loans to the tourist industry which I was able to make available to the board this year from savings achieved elsewhere. It represents a 2.5 per cent. increase in funds available for assisting tourism projects in Wales and a 9 per cent. increase overall on the position at the start of the present financial year.
