§ 20. Mr. Meadowcroftasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will introduce legislation to compel the listing of contents of food products to enable purchasers to be aware of the percentage fat content and the nature of the additives within such products.
§ Mrs. FennerIt is our intention to introduce legislation to require the labelling of foods with their fat content. We expect to issue detailed proposals shortly. The Food Labelling Regulations 1984 already require food additives to be indicated on the ingredients lists on food by the category of function they perform in the food as well as the specific name or serial number, or both.
