§ Mr. Chris Smithasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will indicate the percentage of the total amount of radioactive material reprocessed in the B204 plant at Sellafield that arises from electricity board reactors.
§ Mr. GoodladLess than 1 per cent.
§ Mr. Chris Smithasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list for each year snce the B205 chemical separation plant at Windscale/Sellafield came into operation (a) the weight of plutonium separated from the spent nuclear fuel arising from electricity board reactors and (b) the tonnage of civil spent nuclear fuel processed.
§ Mr. GoodladThe total weight of plutonium derived from the boards' reactors cannot be given for national security reasons as explained in note(g) to the answer given to the hon. Member for Meirionnydd Nant Conwy (Mr. Thomas) on 23 July 1985 at column 473 and by my hon. Friend the Member for Croydon, Central (Mr. Moore) in answer to a question from my hon. Friend the hon. Member for Bedfordshire, North (Mr. Skeet) on 9 March 1983 at column 401. However, plutonium production figures such as those given in the answer on 23 July have been provided in each year since 1981.
I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Livingston (Mr. Cook) on 27 May 1977 at column 626 for the tonnages of spent fuel reprocessed in B205. This covered the position from 1970–71 to the end of the financial year 1976–77. The figures for subsequent years are: 639W
