asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what progress the Food Advisory Committee is making with its review of the use of Aspartame in aqueous solutions.

In its report (FAC/REP/34) the Food Additives and Contaminants Committee recommended a review of intake levels of permitted sweeteners within five years of the implementation of regulations following the report. The market is continuing to develop and it is not yet appropriate for a start to be made on the review.
