asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they intend to increase the limit on compensation for unfair dismissal specified in Section 75(1) of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 as set by the Unfair Dismissal (Increase of Compensation Limited) Order 1984, S.I. 1984, No 2020, and if so by what amount, and what are the reasons for their decisions.

No. The limit was increased by £500 to £8,000 with effect from 1st April 1985. We do not consider that a further increase is justified at the present time.
