§ Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what additional resources Her Majesty's Government will make available to district councils covering Bolton and surrounding areas to implement 618W recommendations relating to administration, staffing and training of social workers arising from the inquiry into the death of Jasmine Beckford.
§ Mr. WhitneyIt is for local authorities themselves to decide the priority they should give in allocating resources to particular parts of their responsibilities, but we shall be considering very carefully the recommendations of the inquiry into the death of Jasmine Beckford within the programme of work the Government have in hand to help prevent child abuse cases and improve their handling.
