HC Deb 10 December 1985 vol 88 cc606-7W
77. Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what specialist units for physically and sexually abused children are now open or are planning to open within the next three years.

Mr. Whitney

This information is not held centrally. The provision of services for physically and sexually abused children is a matter for local authority social services departments, health authorities and voluntary organisations concerned with child protection. The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children provide specialist services in their units; and I am aware of the work being done at Great Ormond street hospital for sick children, and know that there are a number of other local initiatives.
