HC Deb 04 December 1985 vol 88 c266W
Mr. Hancock

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the ratio of places available in sheltered accommodation in Portsmouth per 1,000 people aged 65 years and over in each year since 1979.

Sir George Young

The available data on sheltered accommodation are the numbers of dwellings within each authority's area in April, reported in the annual housing investment programme returns. The numbers of these dwellings, including housing associations' and privately owned dwellings, per 1,000 people aged 65 or more in Portsmouth are as follows:

April Number
1979 25
1980 39
1981 40
1982 40
1983 56
1984 60
1985 70
