§ Sir George YoungUnder section 1(2) of the Housing Act 1974 the Housing Corporation is responsible for exercising supervision and control over registered housing associations and for promoting and assisting their development. The corporation carries out a regular programme of monitoring visits to ensure that associations are conducting their affairs properly and that committees of management are exercising adequate control. To help260W housing associations to improve their performance, the corporation lays down guidelines and procedures and provides financial support for training and development.
