HC Deb 18 April 1985 vol 77 c257W
Q45. Mr. John Carlisle

asked the Prime Minister whether she has concluded discussions with the Football Association and other interested bodies on the subject of football hooliganism; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I met representatives of the Football Association and Football League on 1 April. At that meeting we agreed a number of measures against spectator violence which the football authorities will pursue, and which the Government will support, in part through legislation. The details were given by my hon. Friend the Minister with responsibility for sport in reply to the hon. Member for Barnsley, East (Mr. Patchett) on 4 April, at column 756. I have no present plans to meet the football authorities again.
