HL Deb 04 April 1985 vol 462 cc422-3WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are encouraging voluntary bodies in Northern Ireland to put forward projects for work particularly in inner city areas, which could attract financial support from the European Regional and Social Funds.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Lyell)

Assistance from the European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund is available only for projects which are financed in whole or in part by public funds. Where a voluntary body has support from public funds for a project which appears eligible to earn a contribution from these European funds, the possibilities are drawn to its attention.
