HL Deb 03 April 1985 vol 462 c337WA
Baroness Macleod of Borve

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many service stations it is planned to build on the M25, M11, M20, M23, M40, M50, M54, M18 and M180 respectively, and when they will be completed.

Lord Brabazon of Tara

Up to 11 motorway service areas are programmed for M25, M11, M20 and M40. There are at present no firm proposals for M23, M50, M54, M18 and M180.

Four service areas are planned for M25, and it is hoped that the one at South Mimms will be open by the time the motorway is completed, with the other three following as quickly as possible. On M11 it is hoped to open a service area at Birchanger by about early 1987. In addition, proposals are being developed for up to three sites on M20 and three more on M40.
