§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Baroness Trumpington)For any medicinal product, including a generic product, to be marketed in the United Kingdom, the licensing authority has to be satisfied that the product is safe, efficacious and of good quality under the Medicines Act 1968. Dispensing doctors and pharmacists are responsible for ensuring that the drugs they dispense have so satisfied the licensing authority.
