HC Deb 31 October 1984 vol 65 c992W
Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) whether he has any plans to introduce legislation to effect the statutory insurance of farm workers for death and serious accidents occurring as a result of their employment; and if he will make a statement;

(2) whether he has any plans to introduce legislation to effect the statutory insurance of all drivers of agricultural-type tractors and similar vehicles in respect of fatal or serious non-fatal accidents at work; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Under the Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969, employers are already required to insure against their liability for bodily injury or disease sustained by their employees in the course of their employment. Farm workers are covered by this legislation.
