HC Deb 31 October 1984 vol 65 c1059W
Mr. Bill Walker

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what advice his Department gives to chief constables with regard to appointments to crime prevention panels; and what advice is given with regard to individuals who have a previous criminal record.

Mr. Younger

It is for chief constables themselves to make these local appointments, having regard to the range of interests appropriate to each area; no central advice about appointments is issued.
