HC Deb 31 October 1984 vol 65 c1072W
Mr. Freeman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received from the medical profession about the harmful effect of aerial crop spraying of chemical products.

Mr. John Patten

None. However, the Department and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food have had a number of representations from members of the public about the health effects of aerial spraying.

Pesticides used in this country for aerial spraying., or otherwise, are cleared under the pesticide safety precautions scheme operated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and. Food. A number of other Departments are involved, including the Department of Health and Social Security, which closely watches the public health aspects.
