HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 c890W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his policy towards visitors arriving in the United Kingdom with tuberculosis or other infectious illnesses being placed on an aeroplane and returned to their country of origin without treatment; and whether he is satisfied that this practice is compatible with the international health obligations of the United Kingdom.

Mr. Waddington

Under the present arrangements, which are currently being reviewed, such visitors may be refused entry; but where infection is at a communicable stage treatment may be given here until the person concerned is no risk to other passengers.
