HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 c928W
Mr. Caborn

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has for additional military personnel at Alconbury to live at that base or in the vacant Ministry of Defence houses at Upwood.

Mr. Lee

Single accommodation for some 200 United States air force personnel is now under construction at RAF Alconbury and an application has recently been made to the local planning authority concerning plans to build a similar number of quarters in 1986. Requirements for further accommodation in the area will be kept under review in light of the planned deployment of ground-launched cruise missiles to RAF Molesworth; any further plans for accommodation at RAF Alconbury will be subject to the normal planning procedures. Some 200 houses at RAF Upwood have been made available to United States air force personnel. I am not aware of any vacant Ministry of Defence houses at the site.
