Mr. Tim Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he expects to receive the advice of the Director General of Fair Trading on the proposed merger between Price Waterhouse and Deloitte Haskins and Sells.

Mr. Fletcher

The Director General is currently considering this case and I understand that he will submit his advice within the next few weeks.
