HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 cc872-3W
Mr. Batiste

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry which British companies have informed him of problems with the United States export regulations concerning high technology products.

Mr. Channon

In general, companies which approach my Department with problems of this sort do so in confidence. It would not be appropriate to name such companies.

Mr. Batiste

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the average length of time taken to issue an export licence for high technology products in the last six months; and what was the comparable length of time taken in the previous six-month period.

Mr. Channon

The time taken to process export licence applications ranges from a few days to several weeks depending on the destination, nature and quantity of the goods.
