HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 c931W
Mr. Stuart Holland

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many statutory housing improvement areas are currently managed and funded by the Greater London council; and how many dwellings they encompass.

Sir George Young

I cannot give a precise reply since local authorities are not obliged to inform the Department of the termination of general improvement areas. However, the response by the Greater London council to the White Paper "Streamlining the Cities" recorded that the council had declared 17 statutory improvement areas containing about 13,000 dwellings.
