HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 c893W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has any information indicating the number of children having been left unattended who have died in house fires in recent years.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The available information relates to the total number of children who have died in fires in dwellings and is published annually in "Fire Statistics, United Kingdom" (table 23 of the latest issue for 1982) which is available in the Library of the House. The following table gives corresponding information for 1983. Separate figures for those who have been left unattended are not available.
